- Nicki Minaj Tattoo Ideas: From Her Tattoos to Her Portrait - September 13, 2022
I’ve listened to Nicki Minaj basically since she came out on the music scene, but I never thought about getting a tattoo of her until I saw some Nicki Minaj tattoo ideas.
People have gotten really creative with their designs, so there’s something for everyone. You could even get the same tattoos that Nicki has to match her!
I love how creative you can get when you get a tattoo, but it can also be overwhelming to choose the best idea. Be sure to compare a variety of designs before you head to the tattoo parlor.
Bottom Line Up Front
Nicki Minaj tattoo ideas range from her tattoo of the Barbie logo (my favorite idea) to tattoos of her as part of a sleeve. Think about your tattoo preferences, and use an idea or two to inspire your own design.
Nicki Minaj Tattoo Ideas
Whether you’re more of a Nicki Minaj fan or a tattoo fan, you can find tons of tattoo ideas. I looked at ideas based on the tattoos Nicki has in real life, as well as those inspired by her.
And while I couldn’t find pictures for all of the ideas, I thought of some tattoos I might get to honor her.
You can get something small and simple or big and eye-catching. Be sure to consider your personal preference when it comes to tattoos, and don’t forget to pair your tattoo with a Nicki Minaj shirt to show off your love for the artist.
Here are some of the best Nicki Minaj tattoos I found on the internet.
1. Chinese Symbols
The first idea is to get a matching tattoo with Nicki. She has a tattoo of Chinese symbols that translates to “God is always with you.”
Apparently, she wanted to get the tattoo on her neck, but she thought it would hurt too much. Instead, she got the tattoo on her arm, which is great since she and her fans can enjoy how it looks.
You don’t have to be religious to get this tattoo, so it’s a nice option for many people. Whether you like the Chinese script or just want to match with Nicki Minaj, head to your local tattoo parlor with this idea.
2. Barbie
She’s also called herself “Barbie” and has nicknamed her fans “Barbz.” If you’re also a fan of Barbie, you can get this tattoo and have it mean two things.
As a woman, I love that Nicki Minaj got a tattoo representing women’s empowerment. I also love that this is a more subtle tattoo, and it’s easy to make it small if you can’t afford a larger, more detailed design.
3. Barbie Tingz
I love the font in this tattoo and how you can make it as big or as small as you want. It also serves as inspiration for tattoos of Nicki Minaj’s other songs, such as Super Bass or Anaconda.
Of course, you can use black ink, but you could also make it colorful. I love how easy it is to customize this idea to fit your tattoo aesthetic.
4. Colorful Buns
I imagine it took a couple of sessions to complete. However, I think it looks fantastic, and all of the colors work well together.
The halos on each bun look great, and the tattoo artist did an excellent job of blending the colors. If you want something that looks more like art than a basic tattoo, start with this as your base idea.
5. Simple Outline
The tattoo just contains the outline of her head and arm in black, and her hair is a light pink. This is an excellent option for someone new to tattoos or who doesn’t have a lot of money.
I also think it’s a great first-session tattoo for a bigger design. You can start with this for now and save up before having your tattoo artist expand the design around Nicki.
6. Nicki the Queen
I love that this particular tattoo has part of Nicki’s hair swept to the side, so it doesn’t look “perfect.” The shading on her chest is also amazing, and it’s great that you don’t have to use a ton of color for this idea.
Of course, you can use colored ink for the dress or headpiece to make the design stand out. It’s pretty easy to customize, and you can get it on your arm to show it off to friends and family.
7. A Sleeve
Even if sleeves aren’t for me, I love how the design is pretty natural. A good tattoo artist can start with Nicki Minaj in the center and add the flowers around her without harsh lines.
Of course, a full sleeve will take time and a lot of money. But you can separate the process into a few sessions and start with just the singer, and you can add a layer or two of flowers in later sessions.
8. Booty Pop
This idea is also easy to customize with different colors or hairstyles. So you could also get it of Nicki Minaj wearing a pink jumpsuit and with pink or yellow hair.
The tattoo also features a circle behind the performer, which you can choose to get or not. Either way, this tattoo can be a great option for the start of a sleeve or on its own.
9. Nicki as Ice Cream
There’s a lot going on, so you don’t have to make your tattoo as complex. However, you can feature the singer in a swimsuit or some other outfit, and you can show off her back.
I love that the example even includes Nicki’s tattoo of Chinese characters. That makes the design more realistic, and it’s a good way to add detail after you get the initial tattoo.
10. Nicki and Barbie
Just over her head is a bubble design of the Barbie logo. I think this would be an excellent way to build off a tattoo of “Barbie” if you get that to start.
Or you can get this tattoo from the get-go, and you can customize the look Nicki is wearing. The example I found also featured a pony from My Little Pony, but you don’t have to include that.
11. Funny Face
If you want this idea to be more realistic, you’ll probably have to get a bigger tattoo. Either way, it looks amazing and is a great way to show off your love for Nicki Minaj.
12. Nicki on the Dollar
What makes this tattoo fun is that you can add on to it with other artists on various bills. You might get a tattoo of Eminem or Missy Elliott, so think of your other favorite performers.
13. From Super Bass
This example features her in front of a blue diamond-shaped background with the title “Super Bass” on the lower left side of the diamond.
I love that you can make this tattoo more colorful with pink, yellow, and blue. But you could also just start off with a black and white version and add colors later.
14. My Anaconda
Of course, you could leave it there, or you could add “my anaconda don’t” or some other lyrics.
The tattoo I came across doesn’t have the most realistic design of the singer. However, it still looks cool, and you may need to make compromises for a smaller or more affordable result.
If this song isn’t your favorite, you can take inspiration from any of Nicki’s songs when designing a tattoo of her.
15. Nicki Minaj Lyrics
When I was looking at tattoos, I saw one of the lyrics from the song “Fly” that Nicki Minaj did with Rihanna. The lyrics are about how no one can define you, which is very empowering.
I love the curly font, and I think this idea could work for most lyrics. You can make them smaller or larger, and you can always add an image of Nicki later on.
16. From a Collaboration
If you and your friends want coordinating tattoos, Nicki Minaj is a great inspiration. I remember loving the song “Bang Bang” that Nicki did with Jessie J and Ariana Grande.
That collaboration is the perfect starting point for a group of three friends getting tattoos. Each of you could represent each singer, and the designs can work together or on their own.
Nicki Minaj has done tons of great collaborations that can serve as tattoo inspiration. Get the lyrics or the singers in question as tattoos with your friends or your partner.
17. Woman Like Me
Another one of my favorite collaborations that Nicki Minaj did was with Little Mix for the song “Woman Like Me.” You could use this to inspire a ton of different tattoos.
Of course, you could get a tat of the lyrics, “woman like me.” Another option is to recreate the painting of Nicki in the house in the video, which is similar to one of the other ideas I shared earlier.
This painting is a bit different, though so that you could get a tattoo with a more specific reference. If you also like Little Mix, you could get a tattoo of everyone’s faces with Nicki in the middle and Jade, Perrie, Jessie, and Leigh-Anne around her.
18. I’m a Barbz
I haven’t seen pictures of this idea, but some fans may have gotten a tattoo saying, “I’m a Barbz.” As I shared, Nicki Minaj calls her fans “Barbz,” based on Barbie.
This is a good option if you’re not ready to get a tattoo of her face or song lyrics. Other Nicki Minaj fans will get the reference.
I also love how you can expand on the tattoo later with Nicki Minaj’s face or your favorite lyrics. Of course, you can also leave the tattoo alone.
19. On Tour
Have you seen Nicki Minaj on tour? Immortalize that concert with a tattoo! You can go in a few directions with this idea, from the date to the tour name or location.
Maybe you saw her on her Pink Friday tour on August 8, 2012, in Los Angeles. Get that date as a tattoo, and include the name of the city, LA, in your design.
If you don’t remember when you saw her but know you did, consider getting a ticket stub. You could include her name within the ticket, and you can make the stub as simple or complex as you want.
FAQs About Nicki Minaj Tattoo Ideas
Question: How many tattoos does Nicki Minaj have?
Answer: At the time I’m writing this, Nicki Minaj has two tattoos. Her first tattoo is of a set of Chinese characters, and she got it on her left upper arm.
The other tattoo is of the Barbie logo, and she got it on her right wrist. Both tattoos have a special meaning to Minaj.
Question: Should you get a colorful Nicki Minaj tattoo?
Answer: You can get a colorful tattoo of Nicki Minaj, but you don’t have to. I found a lot of amazing ideas that use black ink, which is great for your first tattoo or if you want something simple.
Be sure to consider your preferences. Go through all of the ideas and more, then discuss the options with your tattoo artist to choose the best design for you.
Question: Is a Nicki Minaj tattoo expensive?
Answer: A Nicki Minaj tattoo can be expensive, but it doesn’t have to be. The smaller, simpler designs or lyrics can be pretty affordable.
You could also spread out the cost over a few tattoo sessions. That way, you can get the design started now, but you’ll have time to save up for the full thing.
Final Note on Nicki Minaj Tattoo Ideas
There are a lot more Nicki Minaj tattoo ideas out there than you might expect. Of course, you can take inspiration from the tattoos the singer has.
However, you can also look at the designs fans have gotten, such as images of the performer or her lyrics. I’d probably get the Barbie logo first, and then I might get a smaller tattoo of her face, such as the one with her on the $100 bill.
